World’s biggest omelette?
NZPA-AFP Paris The tiny central French village of Saint-Symphorien-de-Lay has laid claim to cooking the world’s biggest omelette, a 42,470 egg monster that was whisked in cement mixers and fried in a two-tonne pan. The previous record was a mere 35,000 egg omelette created by the Belgian village of Chatelineau. Thirty people worked for four hours to break the eggs which were turned in eight cement mixers before being cooked with 80kg of butter, 80 litres of oil, 20 litres of cream and IBkg of salt.
, A crowd of 10,000 watched as the slithery mixture was poured into a 41sq m pan and cooked for 30 minutes, then doled out free. The verdict? Not bad, if a little flat and runny, they said.
