$74,000 prize package
A total prize package of more than ?74,000 awaits the contestants in this year’s grand final of the Skellerup Young Farmer of the Year contest. The place-getters this year will receive prizes which have been re-defined to better suit the needs of the modern young farmer. The winner will be presented with prizes valued at more than ?40,000. These will include an International 483 four-wheel-drive tractor
priced at ?27,000, complete with an all-weather Campbell cab. A Honda ATC 250 ES Super Red three-wheeled farm bike valued at nearly $5200 is also included in the winner’s package, as well as travel and accommodation for a trip to Britain for two, which will enable a firsthand look at overseas farming practices. The runner-up in the national contest will receive a 383 International two-
wheel-drive tractor valued at $17,000. The third prize will be a Blue Wing Honda TRX 250 four-wheeler farm bike and trailer worth $7OOO. The four remaining placegetters will win a set of Viking wet weather clothing worth $250. Each of the contestants in the grand final will get a $lOOO voucher from Farm Equipment News and the New Zealand Farmer for agricultural products.
