Situations Vacant Situations Vacant CAREERS IN RESOURCE MANAGER WAIKATO VALLEY AUTHORITY WITH THE ADOPTION of a major report reviewing the functions and responsibilities of the authority several new staff positions are now offered as follows: RESEARCH OFFICER WATER RESOURCES OFFICER SCIENTIST: Resource Hydrology - Groundwater ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT FIELD OFFICER RECORDS CLERK RESEARCH OFFICER A bright versatile person is required in the planning unit capable of producing overview reports of energy initiatives in the catchment to editing technical publications. A good degree in the sciences or arts is required with entry point dependent on qualifications and experience within the following grades: Three/four year degree water resources officer grade 11, $16,198-$21,198. Water resources offices grade I, $22,558$28,385. Scientist grade 11, $18,277-$23,971. Scientist grade I, $22,558-$28,385. Entry to the science grades would require an advanced honours degree and would be an advantage to any applicant as would a knowledge of the cultural perspectives of interest groups. WATER RESOURCES OFFICER An experienced officer is required to fill a new position in the water management unit. A good degree plus experience in water resource investigation, and the granting and monitoring of water rights issued In accordance with the water and soil conservation act 1967 is required. Salary within the range for water resources officer grade I, $22,558-$28,385. SCIENTIST: Resource Hydrology — Groundwater. Applicants holding an advanced honours degree suited to studies in resource hydrology with a particular emphasis groundwater studies Is required to fill a new position. Salary scales: scientist grade 11, $18,277$23,971. Scientist grade I, $22,558-$28,385. ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT This position would particularly suit applicants Interested in financial managment within a resource agency. Applicants will have a New Zealand Certificate of Commerce or experience equivalent and will be expected to become familiar with a wide range of accounting functions using a VAX 750 support system and act for the Authority’s Treasurer as required. Salary will be within the range $16,198$22,558. FIELD OFFICER The Authority requires a mature person in early thirties, good reliable personality, and a liking for the outdoors for field inspection work largely in the rural farming community. A farming background and a technical qualification would be an advantage. Salary depends on age, qualifications and experience and will be within the following range for field officer, $15,600-$20,019. RECORDS CLERK A mature person with ability to be systematic and conscientious is required to maintain and develop the Authority’s central file record and library systems. Salary within the range for typlst/clerk being $11,323-316,198. Majority developments in the water and soil field both past, present and in the future is placing a heavy workload on the Waikato Valley Authority which covers the Taupo Catchment and Geothermal Development, to the suggested Mokau coal field In the King Country, to the coalmining, agricultural, and industrial areas of the Lower Waikato offering competent staff good career opportunities in a rapidly developing scientific/administrative sphere.
