Preswick wins at Motukarara
Preswick, a filly by El Patron from Gay Tennessee, trained by Mike Austin, and Turpin, a half-brother by Nat Lobell to Espiritu, trained by Denzil Hayden, impressed when they quinellaed the two-year-old heat at the Motukarara workouts yesterday. Preswick led for most of the 2400 m and recorded 3min 24.85, with the last 800 m in Imin Is and the final 400 m in 29.65. Turpin showed gameness to finish two and a half lengths away after receiving a rocky run, while Berry Fella took third in a gap of three lengths. Lillolkid continued his good trial record with a win over Armorel and Gold Row in the main pacers’ h?at in 3min 35.6 s (2600 m with the last 800 m in Imin and closing 400 m in 295. Fidelis led all the way in the trotters’ heat to beat Jamie Higgins and Front Up in 3min 40s.
