Marching girls to promote N.Z. welcomed

PA Invercargill The New Zealand Marching Association has swung behind a request by the Minister of Sport and Recreation, Mr Moore, to use marching girls in the promotion of New Zealand. The association’s publicity officer, Mr Peter Little, of Invercargill, said yesterday the association felt that the colourful pageantry of uniforms, lively music, precision of movement, and attractive girls could do a wonderful job to promote New Zealand.

“Mr Moore asked the Marching Association for the co-operation of marching girls to promote New Zealand in its exports,” Mr Little said. “Marching, as a sport, was pioneered by New Zealand, and has a unique association with this country overseas. “The association will be strengthened by teams touring overseas this year and by participation of New Zealand teams in Australian competitions,” Mr Little said.
