Abilympic entrants
Two entrants in a contest to select a New Zealand team for the international Abilympics for the disabled, in Colombia, prepare garments they have entered in the dressmaking section, under the supervision of Mrs Lorraine Rodgers, right, at the Rehabilitation League in Riccarton yesterday. The contestants are, from left, Colin Willis and Siem Hong Ly. Five other Christchurch contestants hoping to be in the national team will sit a series of tests at the league in the next 10 days. Those chosen from Christchurch will take part in a
national contest in Wellington.
Abilympics is a skill contest for disabled persons. It is held in 12 categories: cabinetmaking, dressmaking, watch repair, television repair, radio repair, typing, metal turning, wood carving, weaving, computer programming, billboard advertising, and machine knitting. The Abilympics contest, to be held in Bogota, Colombia, will be the second at an international level.
