Radar rock
A new firm, Radar Record Company, has been formed to distribute both local and overseas artists. Ross Middlemiss and Brian Reidy, the owners of the Radar Record shop in the Cashel Street mall, have formed the label, and already have signed up for Louie and the Hotsticks, the Christchurch band, who are considering recording an album.
Reidy said that the record shop had been going extremely well and that they had decided to set up a new label for distributing recordings from local acts and also obtain distributing rights from overseas labels that the major record companies had not touched. It was too early to say what recordings of overseas artists would be coming into New Zealand, but the company was already looking at another two New Zealand bands, he said.
