Take-over bid opposed
Opponents of the takeover offer by C. S. Stevens and Company, Ltd, for all the shares of N.C.F. Kaiapoi, Ltd, have said that two other meat companies are interested in discussing the purchase of shares in N.C.F. Kaiapoi. A spokesman for a group of shareholders opposing the Stevens bid said yesterday, "Since the take-over offer was posted to shareholders on April 16 we have been
aware that other companies in the meat industry wished to have discussions with shareholders with a view to making arrangements to counter the Stevens takeover. "Consequent on the extraordinary general meeting we are now having discussions with two such other companies. We expect positive results from these discussions to be made public soon.”
