Threat to town milk industry
PA Wellington The town milk industry faced extinction as a separate entity within the industry because of inhibiting regulations and a huge decline in sales, said the In-
dustries Development Commission. Proposals put forward by the commission in a draft report on the industry released yesterday call for
considerable changes for all groups within the industry. Such changes will involve zoning of all production, processing, and distribution. In spite of its small size within the industry the town
milk industry has been controlled and regulated as a separate entity since 1943 and the problems of distribution and quality which existed then no longer apply, the report said.
