Disaster toll 842
•Natural disasters killed more than 800 people and caused $21.3 million of damage in Indonesia in the year to March. Officials of the Social Welfare Department said that 842 people had died as a result of earthquakes, tidal waves, volcanic explosions, floods, storms, and landslides. The worst-affected areas were south and east Kalimantan, west and central Java, west Nusateggara, north Sulawesi and Irian Jaya.—Jakarta.
