Airport security check
PA Auckland Pan American World Airways and Air New Zealand have told Honolulu Airport staff to tighten security after the arrival of the fourth unticketed passenger in Auckland since April 1. Pan American has carried two unticketed passengers from Honolulu and Air New Zealand one from Los Angeles and one from Hawaii. The last was an American woman who arrived on a Pan American flight on May 9 without tickets or
documents. Air New Zealand’s public affairs manager, Mr Bob Wallace, said the airline’s security procedures were sound, when they were followed. After investigation of the incidents, the company was ensuring they were complied with, he said. Pan American’s New Zealand director, Mr Wayne Dodge, said Honolulu staff had been asked to be “more vigilant”. “The problem is a human thing,” he said.
