LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER-P. 141002 (Political and Administration Studies Dept) The Department of Political and Administrative Studies has a vacancy for a Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer in the field of Public Administrative/Personnel Administration. Applications are invited from appropriately qualified persons. Candidates also should be prepared to teach in one or more of the following areas: Political Economy, Political Sociology, Development Administration. A Ph.D. Is a normal requirement for appointment at the Senior Lecturer Level. Applicants should have a good record of undergraduate teaching and research. LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER IN AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION-G. 681003 (Dept of Post-Vocational, Technical, Commercial and Secretarial Studies, Goroka Teachers College) This appointment commences in December 1985. A three-year contract will be offered, with the possibility of renewal for a further three years. The successful applicant will teach in the one-year Diploma in Teaching (Agriculture) programme which prepares teachers for employment in agricultural and fisheries colleges, vocational schools, and provincial high schools. This programme is under review and the successful applicant will be expected to contribute to this work as well as supervising extended periods of teaching practice away from the College. Applicants should be experienced in teaching agriculture at high school level and in training teachers of agriculture, preferably in a developing country. They should possess at least a first degree in (preferably tropical) agriculture together with graduate or post-graduate qualifications in education. SALARY* Senior Lecturer — K 21.255 per annum plus gratuity Lecturer 2— K 19.405 per annum plus gratuity Senior Tutor 2— K 19.405 per annum plus gratuity Lecturer 1 — K 17.555 per annum plus gratuity Senior Tutor 1 — K 17.555 per annum plus gratuity OTHER CONDITIONS The successful applicant will be normally offered a contract for a three year periodending at the end of a semester. The gratuity entitlement Is based on 24 per cent of salary earned and is payable in Installments or lump sum and is taxed at a flat rate of 2 per cent. In addition to the salaries quoted above, the main benefits include: support for approved research; rent-free accommodation; appointment and repatriation airfares for appointee and dependants; financial assistance towards the cost of transporting personal effects to and from Papua New Guinea; 6 weeks annual recreation leave with home airfares available after each 18 months of continuous service; generous education subsidies for children attending schools in PNG and overseas; a salary continuation scheme to cover extended Illness or disability.
