BUILDING RESEARCH ASSOCATION OF NZ INC ASSISTANT DIRECTOR The association is seeking a senior manager to provide policy development and operation co-ordination of its professional services to the building industry. BRANZ is an independent organisation meeting the technical needs of the building industry. It has a substantial involvement in information and advisory services, as well as conducting applied research in diverse fields such as building physics, durability of materials, fire resistance and structures. A major development is a recent decision to provide a computerised data-base for the building industry. The Association is established in its complex at Judgeford between the Hutt Valley and Paremata, near Wellington. The new appointee will have responsiblity to the director (who is responsible to the board of management) for the Association's communication and advisory functions. These comprise such activities as site advice, written advice, seminars, publication, appraisal of innovations. The Association draws on its groups of expertise to provide such services, and particular policy and line responsibilities will be discussed with applicants at interview. Management experience and understanding are essential requirements and tertiary qualifications in an appropriate discipline are normally expected. In addition ability and experience in some or all of the following fields are relevant: MARKETING OF SERVICES OR PRODUCTS Technology transfer, by means such as seminars, technical demonstrations, prepartion and distribution of written and visual material. • Experience with the building industry • Information technology, including computerised services. • Innovation and product development. Remuneration and benefits will depend upon age, qualifications and experience. Superannuation and assistance with removal expenses is offered.
