Steady sale for prime stock

Except for a small rise in old ewe prices, prime stock had a generally steady sale at the Addington market yesterday. Buyers were undeterred by the cold, wet weather and most prices were fully firm on last week’s market. Boner cows sold very strongly and the prime pig market retained the slight improvement in prices gained last week. Prime lambs Prime lambs were in steady, all-round demand. Prices were on a par with last week’s, although medium lambs tended to be slightly dearer. Prices reached $36 for two heavy, woolly lambs and goodquality butchers’ lambs regularly exceeded $3O. The yarding was 1262 compared with 1920 last week. The smaller number of lambs offered ensured that competition between buyers was steady. A little buying interest was shown by freezing companies. Values were: Heavy lambs, to $34, with some sales to $36. Medium lambs, $23 to $25. Light lambs, $l9 to $22. Sales included: D. E. Patten (Little River), 61 at $23.20 to $31.80; R. P. and M. J.
