Cowan prize-winner
PA Wellington David Mitchell, the Motueka reporter for the “Nelson Evening Mail,” has won the 1985 Cowan Prize for historical journalism. Mitchell’s entry was a series of articles on a Maori land claim in Nelson.
The prize, which is pro-, vided jointly by the New; Zealand Journalists’ Union I and the Newspaper Publishers’ Association, com- ‘ memorates the late James > Cowan, a journalist who.’ was an authority on early ■ New Zealand life.
