‘Spitting Image’ film planned

NZPA-PA London Mrs Thatcher and President Reagan are to star in a film together about the end of the world.

But not the real politicians — they will be played by the “Spitting Image” puppets when the show switches from I.T.V. to the cinema screen for the first “Spitting Image” called “Armageddon.”

The film is part of a £l5 million (?NZ40.65 million) line-up of five new productions over the next 12 months from Zenith, the film-making division of Central Television, which makes “Spitting Image” for I.T.V.

There are three other controversial films in the line-up, the story of Stephen Ward, the man at the centre of the Profumo affair, and films about the love affair between Sex Pistol Sid Vici-

ous and his American girlfriend, Nancy Spungen, and Streatham brothel-keeper, Cynthia Payne.

“Love Kills” is the fatal love story of Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen. Nancy Spungen was found dead in a New York hotel bedroom and, while police were still investigating her death, Sid Vicious died of a drugs overdose. The fifth film will be “Fallen Angels,” described as an escapist fantasy for the whole family. The line-up of new Zenith films was announced at the Cannes Film Festival by Mr Charles Denton, the company’s chief executive.

He said that “Love Kills,” “High Places,” and “Personal Services” would start production later this year with “Fallen Angels” and “Spitting Image’s” film starting production early next year.
