Cagney recovering well
NZPA-AP New York The actor, James Cagney, is recovering at his farm after surgery to remove an infected sore from his leg that would not heal. “He’s all right now,” Marge Zimmerman, the 85-year-old actor’s manager, told the “Daily News” newspaper. “The doctors had expected him to remain hospitalised for about six weeks, but he got out in two.” The newspaper said Cagney underwent surgery on
March 20 in an undisclosed hospital. “They had to cut out the sore clear to the bone and clean it all out,” Ms Zimmerman said. “Now it is almost healed. You know, he’s pretty tough.” Last June, Cagney suffered a heart attack while holidaying in Boothbay Harbour, Maine. He was admitted to hospital again in November in New York after developing congestion of the lungs.
