M.P. welcomes plan
Wellington reporter The member of Parliament for Avon, Mrs Mary Batchelor, congratulated the Christchurch Drainage Board yesterday for recognising the need for a contingency plan to avoid sewage discharge into the Estuary. Mrs Batchelor said that
she was very pleased to hear that the threat of discharge of raw sewage into the Estuary had been averted.
“Where people’s health is concerned, every effort must be taken to ensure that the people are not held to ransom,” said Mrs Batchelor.
