Rock concert cancelled

People who hold tickets to the cancelled Iron Maiden concert, which was to have been in the Christchurch Town Hall this evening, have until Saturday to collect their refunds. The heavy-metal rock band was forced to abandon its New Zealand tour because of industrial strikes in Australia, where it has just completed a tour.

About 1300 concert-goers have been affected in Christchurch and “thousands of others” who booked for concerts in Palmerston North and Auckland. Christchurch ticketholders were given the option of going to last evening’s concert by the British pop star, Nik Kershaw, instead, said the promoter, Mr Stewart Macpherson.
