Thorpe in reserves
The Canterbury lock, Tony Thorpe, has been added to the Probables reserves for today’s All Black trial at Invercargill. Thorpe was to have been a reserve for South in the inter-island match at New Plymouth last Saturday. However, he was unable to fill the role because of a suspension.
Thorpe was ordered off for fighting while playing for his Sheffield club team the previous Saturday and the Ellesmere sub-union stood him down until after May 11. He appealed to the Canterbury union and the appeal was heard last Wednesday. However, the union upheld the decision and Thorpe was ruled out of the North-South game.
