Three join commission
PA Wellington Three appointments to fill vacancies on the Securities Commission have been announced by the Minister of Justice, Mr Palmer. They are Messrs Martin Ivor Harriman (sharebroker, of Auckland); Robert Edward Baker (general manager, of Wellington, as alternate member for Mr Harriman); and Peter Donald McKenzie (bar-
rister and solicitor, of Wellington). Mr Selwyn John Cushing, a company director of Hastings, who had been the alternate member for Mr C. J. Fernyhough, who has resigned, was reappointed as alternate member Mr McKenzie. Mr Harriman is a partner in an Auckland firm of sharebrokers. He is a member of the New Zealand Stock Exchange and the New Zealand Society
of Accountants. He has served as chairman of the Auckland Stock Exchange and as president of the former Stock Exchange Association of New Zealand. He took a leading role in the formation of the New Zealand Stock Exchange. Mr Baker is the group general manager of UDC Group Holdings, Ltd. He is a member of the New Zealand Society of Accountants and served as chairman of the New Zealand Finance Houses Association.
Mr McKenzie is a partner in a Wellington law firm. He has an extensive practice in commercial and company law. From 1966 to 1976 he was a senior lecturer in company and commercial law at Victoria University of Wellington.
