Muppets, Supergirl, space and fantasy figures for wide school-holiday selection
The Muppets, Supergirl, fantasy figures, spacee creatures, comic cops, and the return of Walt Disney’s “Pinocchio," which all start tomorrow, make up the best selection of school-holiday films to be screened in Christchurch for a long time.
Pictured clockwise from above:
Juliana Donald joins Miss Piggy and Kermit in “The Muppets Take Manhattan,” which will begin day-time screenings at the Avon. Fozzie, Scooter, Gonzo, Rowlf, Dr Teeth and the Electric Mayhem Band also return in the third Muppet movie. The mission of Supergirl (Helen Slater) is to retrieve the missing omegahedron power source from Argo City. The wicked Selena (Faye Dunaway), into whose clutches it has fallen, wishes to use her new-found power to rule the world in “Supergirl,” which will begin daytime screenings at the Savoy Two. Atreyu (Noah Hathaway) and his horse, Artax, are two of the real-life characters in “The Never Ending Story,” which will start at the Savoy One. This charming fantasy also
features many fantastic creatures, including Cairon the black merman, Parmenter the sunken giant, and Moria the Ancient One, a gargantuan turtle. Grig (Dan O’herlihy, left), a lizard-like, ace Gun Star navigator from another planet; Alex (Lance Guest), the video-games champion from Earth; and Centauri (Robert Preston), who has recruited Alex to become “The Last Starfighter,” which will screen at the Westend.
After graduating from the Police Academy, Officer Eugene Tackleberry (David Graf) meets another weapons freak, Officer Kirkland (Colleen Camp), and finds love in the new comedy, “Police Academy 2,” which will start at the Regent.
