No Idea tour
No Idea are holding three shows in Christchurch this week before heading off on their “Totally Clueless” tour.
The band is throwing a going-away bash at the Gladstone Tavern this evening, with a cover charge of $3 a head, and on the following two evenings No Idea play at Lyttelton’s British Hotel, reducing the cover charge to $2. The “Totally Clueless” tour starts in Auckland at the Windsor Castle on May 16 and ends in Dunedin’s Sounds Cafe on June 8, for a total of nine dates.
No Idea are well known for their support for unemployed assistance groups in Christchurch, the threepiece having stayed in the city since March of last year, after originally forming in Palmerston North in April, 1983.
The band also attracted some attention for the release of an 11-song tape called “Wotsoever,” which sold 250 copies in the South Island, and a further 150 in the north. There was a suprising demand for the tape from some areas of the West Coast.
