Auction sale
Mrs Francine Whiting, an auctioneer’s assistant with Whittle, Knight and Boatwood, Ltd, Christchurch, with some of the items from Fails Cafe in the City Mall, Cashel Street, which will be auctioned on Saturday. The Gaggia espresso coffee machine is the same model as one installed in
the Duke of Bedford’s family home, Woburn Abbey. However, the Duke’s machine is gold-plated. Seven of the tables, with
attached swivel chairs, which have been a feature of Fails Cafe since about 1926, will be among the items for sale. The auction will be held to dispose of articles from the cafe and the neighbouring Zetland Tavern that will not fit into the new image designed for the tavern and the cafe.
