Date doubtful
The date of the Australian Grand Prix to be held on an Adelaide street circuit on November 3 this year, may still be changed.
Promoters of the race are unhappy about the November 3 date because it will fall between the world endurance championship for sports cars at Sandown Park, Melbourne, and the Melbourne Cup, Australia’s greatest horse race and the year’s premier sporting event.
The change may come about because there is a strong lobby among the Formula 1 racing car constructors to close up the last few world drivers’ and manufacturers’ championship races this year. The latest rumour is that the Australian Grand Prix will take place on October 13 and will be followed by the final race, the South African Grand Prix, on October 27.
