FUTURES $US dead flat
The instability that fuels futures trading was absent from U.S. dollar contract dealing on the futures market yesterday. The contract traded in a tight range of 27 points, the lowest that Dr Brent Layton, of Marshall Futures, can recollect. There was little scope for day trading, he said. The trading of 71 contracts, however, showed that there was still a lot of hedging activity, Dr Layton said.
Wool-futures contracts were firmer in the nearer months yesterday. Dr Layton suggested that the market was responding to the view that the New Zealand dollar would weaken.
