Halt ordered
The Iranian President, Mr All Khamenei, has ordered an immediate halt to recent daily demonstrations in Teheran against moral corruption and breaches of Islamic rules on clothing. He said the demonstrations had gone on long enough and should stop immediately. Iran maintains strict Islamic laws and Mr Khamenei gave his blessing to the demonstrations. But he said women had been accosted over their manner of clothing, youths harassed because their hair was considered too long, and people dragged out of cafes. — Teheran.
