Woodville horse improves place
PA Palmerston North The Woodville horse, Golden Glow, improved his standing in the Beanabah national dressage series with a win at Masterton last weekend, but the award is still likely to go to the present champion, Smiley John. Golden Glow, owned and trained by Eric Ropiha and ridden by Penny Iving, won the Prix St Georges at Masterton from Post Black, ridden by Margaret Harris for Duncan and Judy Simpson of Turakina. Horatio was third and Polonaise fourth. Beanabah series standings:
Smiley John (Merran Hain, Gisborne), 35; Diablo (Tiny White, Otane), 25; Aztec (Sue Wells, Nelson), 24; Pot Black (Margaret Harris, Waikanae), 19; Hirondelle (Wvnnis McDonald, Winton), 14; Golden Glow 13; Pacific (Judith McEwen, New Plymouth), 12; Huntaway (Sally Field-Dodg-son, Christchurch), Kentucky (Marcia Byley, Te Awamutu), Horatio (Joan Robinson, Pa tea) 10.
The last two events in the series will be held at Gisborne on April 12 and at the South Elana dressage championships at Winchester on Apnl 14.
