Armed conflicts
Sir,—l find it extraordinarily ignorant of those advocating the nuclear arsenal to claim that the availability of such weapons has prevented the outbreak of major wars since 1945. To 1982, there have been six wars, in each of which more than one million people have been killed, and seven massacres of a particular race, community or tribe. I believe some opinions can only be held if consciences are blindfolded and propaganda is accepted as truth. — Yours, etc., SUSAN TAYLOR. March 26, 1985.
