School Cert, returns sorted out
PA Wellington The first of last year’s marked School Certificate scripts should be sent to candidates who requested them within a fortnight The Education Department’s director of administration, Mr Brian Richards, said yesterday that a temporary office, manned by 29 staff, had been set up in Wellington to deal with about 20,000 requests. “We have centred all the scripts in Wellington and the staff are now in the process of extracting them,” he said. ‘We hope the first people should get them within two weeks, and it is hoped we can clean the whole operation up in the next month.” Mr Richards said that of last year’s 9500 requests for marked scripts, only 28 had produced inquiries. Of those, 20 could be answered straight away, and eight were still being investigated.
