Cash plea for Ethiopia
PA Wellington More than $1 million has been raised for Operation Hope and the relief ship the Ngahere, but organisers have made a plea for more money before the ship sails to Port Sudan. About $1,066,000 has been raised, with gifts of goods in addition. However, the target is $1.75 million and organisers
hope that more donations will be made. The ship sailed from Auckland at the week-end for Port Chalmers with food, clothing, machinery, and medical supplies for famine refugees in North Africa. Organisers say all banks thoughout New Zealand are ready to receive donations so that the ship can sail with a full cargo.
