B.B.C. may advertise
NZPA-Reuter London The British Government has said it is studying the possibility of the 8.8. C. running from advertising revenues instead of Government subsidies. The Home Secretary, Leon Brittan, told Parliament that the Government
was setting up a committee to assess whether the 8.8.C.’s income could be supplemented or replaced by taking advertisements. Until now advertising has been ruled out for the 8.8. C. because of fears that the corporation’s programming standards would suffer.
