Stars turn 50 together
Rock Hudson has just signed a 12-episode contract for ‘Dynasty,” but we will have to wait until next season to see him in the series.
Talk about the headless wonder. Someone has stolen the head off Boy George’s wax figure at Madame Tussaud’s in London. Well, that is only half the story. The head has now turned up in the United States with a black market price of quite a few dollars. Marlon Brando’s live-in-love, Yachio Tsnbaki, moved out in jealous rage after he hired a pretty young secretary to live-in and work from his home/ About 10 days later Yachio was back after Brando had fired the pretty, young secretary — funny that l I am not one to gossip, as you all well know, however, Angie Dickinson is really kicking herself. She was first offered the role of Krystle Carrington, when the “Dynasty” series was still on the drawing board and went under the name of “Oil.” I remember when little Angie turned down a leading role in the movie "Mash.” Perhaps she should get a good agent! The year 1935 produced a bumper crop of really top stars, and this year they are all turning 50: Dudley Moore, Loretta Lynn, Richard Chamberlain, Luciano Pavarotti, Johnny Mathis, Julie Andrews, Judd Hirsch,
Woody Allen, Gene Wilder, Steve Lawrence, Daihann Carroll, Jerry Lee Lewis,
Bob Denver, Lee Remick, Roy Schneider, and Robert Conrad.
Barbara Eden has been trying to talk Larry (JJL) Hagman into doing a guest role in her upcoming “Jeannie” television movie. Hagman really does not want to know, but Barbara Eden is hopeful and has delayed filming until the American spring when Hagman is on a break from “Dallas.” My betting is that he will want the earth to appear on the, show. Short-lived memories haven’t they? Talking of “Dallas,” the creator of the show is writing a "prequel” that will turn the clock back some 50 Sears to the beginnings of le Ewing family. Miss Ellie’s marriage to Jock and the birth of baby J.R. will start the show. It will be a one-off for the small screen later this year.
The hottest rumour in Hollywood is that Vicente Minnelli will produce “The Judy Garland Story” for the big screen, and he wants Liza Minnelli to play the role of her mother. She says that the idea scares her, because she thinks she is not a fraction of the performer her mum was. I hope she does take up the offer. Let’s face it, with her dad producing, and her playing Judy, maybe for the first time we will get to see the real Judy Garland.
Such a movie would be fascinating.
“Dallas” and “Dynasty” move over, because “Peyton
HOtATWOO©
Place” is taking to the air once more. Many of the original stars will be back, but not Ryan O’Neil and Mia Farrow. Dorothy Malone, who played Constance MacKenzie, and Evelyn Scott, who was Ada Jacks, will both return to the soapie. Barbara Parking Ed Nelson, Rath Warrick, Steven Douglas, Chris Connelly and Pat Morrow are all original cast members who will be returning to their roles, a little bit older and, I hope, wiser too.
