Aranui wins heat
Glen McKenzie and Philip Allen, of Aranui High School, won the second heat of the Peter Mander trophy inter-secondary schools yachting series on the Waimakariri River yester-
The last two heats in the series will be sailed at the start of next summer and at the half-way stage the leader is Timaru Boys’ High School, from Christchurch Boys’ High School No. 2 with Christchurch Boys’ High School No. 1 and St Andrew’s College (equal) third.
Yesterday the junior cherubs used for the series
encountered fresh southerly winds. The placings were:— G. McKenzie and P. Allen (Aranui H.S.) 1, T. and B. Allan (C.B.H.S. No. 2) 2, A. Young and R. Butler (Timaru B.H.SJ 3.
