N.Z. Harness Horse Association formed
The first step towards trotting owners, trainers, breeders and horsemen presenting a united front was taken at a meeting of representatives of the three national organisations in Christchurch yesterday. The meeting agreed in principle to the formation of an organisation to be known
as the New Zealand Harness Horse Association.
The new organisation will make representations to the Trotting Conference on behalf of the three national organisations with the ultimate aim of obtaining direct representation on the executive of the conference.
Mr Bevan Smith, of Christchurch, was elected the interim chairman of the new organisation, which will have 12 board members. They will be the presidents of the Standardbred Breeders’ Association, the Owners, Trainers and Breeders’ Association and the Trotting Trainers and Drivers’ Association, and three delegates from each body. * .
