N.Z. drivers lead
The three New Zealand contestants, David Butt, David Butcher and Anthony Butt, have a handy lead over their Australian rivals going into the final two races of the Air New Zealand Inter-Dominion Junior Drivers’ Championship which will be run at Forbury Park next Thursday. • David Butt and Butcher share the lead with 19 points after Saturday’s two races at Addington Raceway, two points in front of Anthony Butt. Geoff Marriott (West Australia) is in fourth place with 14 points, followed by Peter Muir (Victoria) with eight, and Mark Webster (South Australia) and Jamie
Williams (Australian champion) with seven. Anthony Butt gained an easy win behind Late Lustre in the fifth race of the series, beating Elbon Blue (Webster) and Princess Foyle (David Butt). Andronicus (David Butt), a hot favourite, won the second race on Saturday by a short head from Ryal Robyn (Butcher), with a long break to Adioo Omahae (Webster) and Macandrew (Anthony Butt), which was badly checked by Ryal Robyn inside the last 100 m. An objection was lodged against the placing of Ryal Robyn on the grounds of interference to Macandrew, but this was not sustained.
