Bishop acting Primate
PA Wellington Bishop Peter Sutton will act as Primate and Archbishop of the Anglican Church after Archbishop Paul Reeves resigns on September 30. Bishop Sutton, senior bishop of New Zealand, will act until an archbishop is elected by the General Sy-
nod at its next meeting in May of next year. The seven diocesan bishops of New Zealand, with the Bishops of Polynesia and Aotearoa, will elect an archbishop from their ranks by secret ballot. Their choice will then require approval from the Houses of Clergy and Laity.
