Match with Auckland
Auckland has agreed to meet Canterbury in an inter-provincial rugby league match at the Show Grounds on the evening of Tuesday, May 21. Two days earlier Auckland will have played South Island at Greymouth, a match which will be watched by the five New Zealand selectors.
Negotiations between the two provinces have been under way for some months. The chairman of the Canterbury board of control, Mr lan Jenkins, arrived home from the national conference in Auckland yesterday with the welcome news that the match would indeed take place.
