Two king hitters
Rod Latham (Lancaster Park A) and Peter Kennedy (Sydenham) are entitled to share the distinction of being the king hitters of club cricket in Canterbury. When Latham hit the only six of their match at Ham on Saturday, it was the thirteenth time this season he had cleared the boundaries. Latham’s total was boosted by nine sixes in one appearance; Kennedy’s were
spread over six innings. They were one ahead of John Sansom (Park B) and Bob Carter (Sydenham). Richard Hadlee hit 11 sixes in his brief time with High School Old Boys to be equal with Colin Hight (East-Shir-ley). Next, with 10, were Geoff Smith (St Albans), Russell Haglund (BurnsideWest), Stu Gables (Park A) and Bob Cusdin (Park B).
