THE UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTH PACIFIC Forum Fisheries Agency FELLOW IN OCEAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT Post 85/19 THE FFA has commissed USP to organise new courses in Ocean Resources Management with Financial support from the Canadian International Development Agency. The Fellow will serve as director of these courses with responsibility for ensuring both the academic and administrative aspects of the short-term intensive in-service courses in countries of the region and the one-semester university degree course. The duties Include engaging lecturers, recruiting participants through governments and regional agencies, lecturing in the courses, compiling reference materials and building up a specialised library, developing the course curriculum and revising it as need be, overseeing all administrative and academic phases of the courses with the USP and FFA, and liaising with regional governments, other universities, and other regional organisations. The Fellow would also be expected to be involved in the organisation of other regional workshops, to supervise directed research, to publish articles in the field of ocean affairs and ocean resource management, and other similar activities. The Fellow should be a person with an appropriate academic background, well-developed administrative skills, extensive experience in a wide range of marine affairs. The Fellow will initially undergo an intensive three-month international programme at several locations tailored to ensure familiarity with all of the wide range of ocean affairs topics intended for the courses.
