Mill sale confirmed after last-minute funds found

Only legal property procedures stand between Mr Clive Brooker and ownership of the old Woods Brothers flour mill in Wise Street, Addington. Mr Brooker raised the $67,000 outstanding on the $160,000 purchase price of the mill by late Tuesday evening. He had been given a final deadline of 5 p.m. on Tuesday after several weeks of trying to raise the money. Mr Brooker said yesterday that he had been in

touch with the mill’s owner, A.G.H. Developments, Ltd, of Auckland, and the sale would proceed. Once the legal procedures had been dealt with the mill would be his. He plans to develop the 94-year-old brick building as a centre for recreation and light industry. It is now occupied by tenants in flats, the Riccarton players, which put up $40,000 to buy the Mill Theatre in the building, the Damax Gymnastics Club, a video film

maker, a catering company, a wood worker, a maker of croquettes, a honey business, and two artists. Mr Brooker lives in a flat in the mill.

Mr Ross Blanchard, of A.G.H. Developments, said from Auckland yesterday, that he saw no problem with the sale provided the terms of the agreement with Mr Brooker were adhered to. Mr Brooker said he would have no trouble meeting those terms, now that he had the money.
