Skyhawk returns

The Royal New Zealand Air Force Skyhawk fighterbomber which made an emergency landing at Christchurch Airport on Monday afternoon returned to Ohakea yesterday.

A maintenance team from Ohakea flew to Christchurch to repair the aircraft, which landed here after the pilot noticed unusual noises and vibrations while descending over Hokitika on a high-level navigation exercise.

An Air Force spokesman said yesterday that an engine malfunction was not the cause of the problem, which was found to be a minor pressurisation malfunction.
