Meat inspectors to resume wage talks

PA Wellington Meat inspectors had agreed to resume wage negotiations with tbeir employers, the State Services Commission, said the president of the Public Service .Association, Mr Colin Hicks, yesterday. Inspectors decided to refuse to work overtime after the commission withdrew a pay offer because tbe inspectors refused to accept its shift work provisions. Tbe commission had agreed to reinstate tbe pay offer and to negotiate nonstandard provisions for shift work. Mr Hicks said. “On this basis, tbe inspectors have agreed to withdraw their industrial action to allow talks to proceed as soon as possible,” Mr Hicks said.
