Young athletics team
PA Wellington The New Zealand athletic selectors have -named a young team of 13 to attend the Australian track and field championships in Canberra from March 29 to 31. The team will not officially represent New Zealand, although it will be outfitted with national representative gear. The selectors are likely to add to the team after the national decathlon and heptathlon championships at the week-end. The team is:— Men: Nigel Avery (Auckland), triple and long jumps; Angus Cooper (Auckland),
hammer; Rhys Dacre (Canterbury), 100 m, 200 m; Khris de John (Waikato), high jump; Gavin Lovegrove (Waikato), javelin; Jonathon Moyle (Auckland), long jump; 100 m, John StaplytonSmith (Canterbury), javelin; Roger Te Puni (Wellington), high jump. Women: Megan darken (Auckland), long jump, 100 m; Lyn Grime (Waikato), 400 m hurdles, 400 m; Lynette Kay (Canterbury), 100 m, 400 m hurdles; Jayne Mitchell (Waikato), long jump, 100 m; Trudy Painter (Otago), high jump, 100 m hurdles.
