Our Mana completes double at Auckland meeting

PA Auckland Our Mana completed a fine double when he won the big event on the second night of the Auckland Trotting Club’s meeting at Alexandra Park last evening. He was much too good in the L. W. Twist Free-For-All, scoring handsomely by a length and a half from Te Puke Expects. Slugger, a neck back, was third, just in front of Shineover. On Saturday, the first night of the meeting, Our Mana won the Air New Zealand Handicap. Last evening he asserted his superiority half-way down the home straight. In spite of the showery weather, the time was a disappointing 2min 4.25. An hour earlier the top South Island four-year-old Roydon Glen did an exhibition mile comfortably in a tick over two minutes. Roydon Glen was an acceptor for the Twist Free-For-All, but was scratched because his connections were not happy with his barrier position. He drew No. 8. Dillon Dale failed dismally, beating home only Borana. Dillon Dale was “still short of work,” not having raced for three months, said his trainerdriver, Don Dwyer. Casey’s Folly was at astonishingly good odds when he won the second leg of the T.A.B. double, the United Building Society Handicap. He was third on the first night and, against much the same opposition, paid $22.30 for a win last evening. Well back most of the way, he improved rapidly approaching the home turn to win by a length and a half from Velsiqv.e. Namu Baby, half a head back, was third, followed by Lord Shreik.
