Stress telling on dentists

NZPA-Reuter London Stress caused by work can be a big health hazard and those most at risk include miners and dentists, according to a survey. The study by Manchester University’s • Institute of Science and Technology, said miners topped the list because of their working

environment. The institute found that dentists had a suicide rate twice the national average and disliked their reputation as inflictors of pain. The report said pop musicians suffered through financial insecurity, performance nerves, and self-critic-ism.

Of the groups surveyed, journalists and police were also high on the list of stress sufferers, while the least affected were librarians. The report said work stress could cause high blood pressure, heavy drinking, depression, mental illness and heart disease.
