Role reversal story was big hit in U.S.

By

GRAHAM PARKER and AVENE FLANNERY

“MR MOM” Roadshow 90min NRC 1983 Michael Keaton and Teri Garr star as Jack and Caroline Butler in this comedy about role reversal. Jack loses his job and takes over the house and three young children while Caroline goes out to work. She blossoms from a shy, insecure housewife into a self-confident executive while Jack is left to cope with the home and a lusty neighbour. Caroline also has her extra-curriculum problems to cope with - in the form of the lecherous president of the agency where she works. Supporting roles are filled by Ann Jillian and Martin Mull and the whole is a rather crazy romp. The quality throughout is very good and this movie was actually the United States box office hit of 1983. "MAGIC OF LASSIE” Palace Family lOOmin G 1978 Old Clovis Mitchell (James Stewart) and his grandchildren are tricked into believing that their beloved Lassie rightfully belongs to the cruel Jamison (Pernell Roberts), who takes the dog away.

Lassie is not to be outdone, however, and escapes to team up with new friends, Gus (Mickey Rooney) and Apollo. Clovis’s grandson, Chris, has run away from home to search for Lassie and his grandfather sets out find the lad. Many adventures await all the parties before they are finally reunited. A beautiful movie for all the family and very good picture and audio quality.

“LUGGAGE OF THE GODS!” Rocket Video 80min G A small tribe of cavepeople have managed to survive in ignorant bliss until the present day, living according to their own laws. Whenever an aircraft passes overhead, the people are forbidden to look at it. A cave painter, Yuk, and his best friend, Tull, break the taboo and are banished from the tribe but they have

witnessed a jetliner in distress jettisoning its cargo. The pair track down all the goodies and the fun is really on as Yuk tries to use the gadgets to be accepted back into the tribe and be reunited with his sweetheart, Hubba. This is a great piece of fun starring Gwen Ellison, Mark Stolzenburg and Gabrielle Barre. The quality is very good throughout, on hifi stereo soundtrack.

“STAYING ALIVE” CIC-Taft 94min PG 1983 John Travolta returns as Tony Manero, now living in Manhattan where he teaches in an aerobics centre by day and works as a waiter at night while trying to get a break into show business. His devoted girlfriend, Jackie (Cynthia Rhodes), works as a dancer on Broadway and sings with a group at a late-night club

but Tony becomes infatuated with an English dancing star who is a success on Broadway. Laura (Finola Hughes) gets Tony a part in her new show but it is Jackie who helps him to rehearse and who backs him up all the way. An entertaining musical drama with a great Bee Gees soundtrack, and the quality is excellent.
