Advts for condoms advocated
An immediate advertising campaign to promote the condom as protection against sexually transmitted diseases, including A.1.D.5., as well as protection against pregnancy, has been sought by the Women’s National Abortion Action Campaign. Now that the Health Department had been reassured that it could legally advise homosexuals to use condoms to prevent the spread of A.1.D.5., there was no excuse for further delay. But any campaign ought not to stop with A.I.D.S. It also had to include cervical cancer, which was killing increasing numbers of women each year. The campaign said the programme also had to include chlamydia, a nonspecific urethritis (N.S.U.), which was effectively sterilising numbers of women each year.
