Town Clerk resigns
Kaiapoi’s Town Clerk, Mr Rob McCabe, has resigned and will probably leave his job late in April. The Mayor of Kaiapoi, Mr Howard Cumberland, yesterday confirmed that Mr McCabe had given his notice last week. He would not say why Mr McCabe had resigned. “You will have to ask him about that,” said Mr Cumberland. Mr McCabe declined to
comment. “If you think I am going to put my professional integrity on the line by making a comment, you are mistaken. I have no comment to make,” he said. His resignation was discussed in committee by the Kaiapoi Borough Council during a special meeting held after the usual committee meetings on Monday. It will be confirmed by an
ordinary meeting of the council on February 18. Mr McCabe has been Town Clerk of Kaiapoi for about 10 years. Mr Cumberland said Mr McCabe would probably leave the job towards the end of April.
