Demolition of the old Phillipstown Post Office at the corner of Ferry Road and Barbour Street is in full swing. The contract for a new post office, which will be built on the same site, has been let to M. L. Paynter, Ltd. The new single-storey post office was designed by a Christchurch architect, Mr Peter Kent. Temporary post office services will be provided in an old house alongside the site. When the new office is built, the house will be demolished and the area developed for car parking.
